A new partnership from the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Wellcome Trust looks to fund population-based genetic studies in Africa. The $38 million Human Heredity and Health in Africa (H3 Africa) Project will also build capacity for African scientists to do genomic studies in their home countries.[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Read Full Article Here” style=”flat” shape=”square” color=”info” align=”center” button_block=”true” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.councilforresponsiblegenetics.org%2Fblog%2Fpost%2FNIH-lanches-H3-Africa-Initiative.aspx||target:%20_blank|”][vc_column_text]

Related Articles

[/vc_column_text][vc_basic_grid post_type=”post” max_items=”-1″ style=”pagination” items_per_page=”3″ gap=”15″ autoplay=”7″ initial_loading_animation=”none” grid_id=”vc_gid:1587478195071-cdb83eff718fa49a4b6dda05defd6695-1″ taxonomies=”117″ paging_animation_in=”fadeInRight” paging_animation_out=”fadeOutLeft”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

The vast majority of genomic studies have been of American, Asian and European genomes, with just one genome-wide association study (looking at malaria) based on an African population – surprising considering that around one billion people live on the African continent.

[28,6
117
post-1475","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","category-independent-expert-committee","tag-117
["GET
