I am a Senior Lecturer and Ag. Chair of Dept., Immunology & Molecular Biology, Makerere University College of Health Sciences. I obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Medicine and a Master’s Degree in Molecular Biology at Makerere University in Kampala Uganda. On completion of my undergraduate training in 1999, I was immediately recruited as Research Assistant in the then newly started Molecular Biology Laboratory under Prof. George Lubega at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Makerere University, where I worked until 2005. I am one of the pioneer trainees and students of Molecular Biology locally trained in Uganda. In 2005, I joined another newly created Molecular Biology Laboratory in the Department of Medical Microbiology under Prof. Moses Joloba. I was later appointed as an Assistant Lecturer and obtained a 4-year Fogarty Scholarship for my Doctoral studies. I have vast experience in Molecular Microbiology and Medical Parasitology, with exposure to various state-of-the-art research laboratories across borders. My research interests are Infection/Pathogen Biology, Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Mechanisms, and Molecular Diagnostics.
