13th H3AFRICA CONSORTIUM MEETINGS

We are pleased to announce that registration is open for the 13th Meeting of the H3Africa Consortium. The Meeting will be held in Tunis, Tunisia, at the Laico Tunis.

The meeting will take place over six days, with opportunities to engage the government officials, local academics and postgraduate students. You may also want to take some time before or after the meeting to explore Tunisia.

Online Registration Instructions
New to HtrainDB

Meeting registration is a two-step process:

  1. Register on the HtrainDB
    • On the login page, click on Sign-up tab and fill all required (*) fields
    • After creating your account you’ll receive an email with your password
    • You may change your HtrainDB Password
  2. Register for the 13th H3Africa Consortium Meeting On home page, under Latest Conferences, click the link to 13th H3Africa Consortium Meeting to redirect to the registration page:
    • You will notice that most of your personal information will be automatically entered in the form
    • Complete the applicable sections, visa requirements etc.
    • Upon completion, you will receive an on-screen confirmation notification
    • You will receive you invitation/visa letter from the first week in January 2019 (due to Christmas Break)

H3Africa Fellows/Application for Travel Fellowship

H3Africa Fellows may apply for the H3Africa Travel Fellowship using the 13th H3Africa Consortium Online Registration form here. Please note that Travel Fellowship application deadline is Thursday 31 January 2019 ( Time: 23.59 CAT).

All abstracts submitted by the deadline will be assessed for an oral presentation slot


Meeting Venue & Accommodation (See Attachment)
We would like to provide you with an update with regard to our support team on the ground in Tunis. We have decided to work with the events company Millesima Travel & Events.

They have successfully worked with the Institute Pasteur and our LOC as well as Laico Tunis.   • Deluxe single room : 325 TND per room per night in bed and breakfast
  • Deluxe double room : 367 TND per room per night in bed and breakfast
  • Tourist tax: 3 TND per person per day

Visa Requirements

Assisted Visa application
Visa application assistance for H3Africa Members that do not have a Tunisian Embassy/Consulate in their city. The LOC will not be allowed to assist if you have a Tunisian Embassy/Consulate in your city.

Process:

  • Register for the 13th H3Africa Consortium Meeting by 5th February (Registration opens 21 Dec 2018)
  • Receive Visa/Invitation Letter from Linda Dywili/H3ACC starting first week of January 2019

Gather the following documents:

  1. Complete the visa application form (find attached)
  2. Recent passport photos, white background
  3. Provide a copy of your passport with 6 months validity
  4. Letter of employment/study from employer/PI
  5. A copy of your hotel booking
  6. A copy of your flight ticket
  • Create a single PDF by merge PDF or scanning all the documents together
  • Checklist-print your merged document and check that you have included all the necessary documentation to prevent any delays/disappointment.
  • Upload onto your 13th Meeting registration page by 23.59 CAT  6 February 2019
  • (2 months are required for processing visa applications)

    • It is advisable to book your accommodation as soon as possible as the block booking expires on the 28 February 2019
  7. Who pays for my flight?
    • All flights for all delegates need to be covered by their grants. Please discuss this further with your PI.
  8. Am I supposed to make my own flight reservation? If so, how?
    • Yes. It is advisable to contact a local Travel Agent in your country.
  9. How do I register and when is the registration deadline?

  10. If I have missed the registration deadline, can I still register?
    • If you have missed the registration deadline, please contact the Coordinating Centre (linda.dywili@uct.ac.za)
  11. Do I need a visa to enter Tunisia?
    • It is advisable to contact the Tunisian Embassy or Consulate in your country of residence. Please see a list of Embassies and consulates around the world in the Tunisia Visa information attachment.

  • An invitation for side meetings is compulsory
